Garvey previously was Greensboro Market President for Community One Bank; prior to that, he was the Guilford County Commercial Real Estate Manager for CCB.

Garvey is a 1984 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, with a BS degree in Managerial Economics.  He earned an MBA from Wake Forest in 1988, and holds an advanced banking degree from the Louisiana State University School of Banking.

A Leadership Greensboro graduate, Garvey has served on a number of community boards, and currently is active in the Summit Rotary Club.  True to his Greensboro roots, Garvey also serves on the Executive Board of the Page High School Alumni Association.
